This year we observed the 84th unfortunate anniversary of "Kristallnacht", a pogrom(s) against our people carried out by the Nazi Party on November 9th - 10th (1938). It was a start of a very dark period for our people where 6+ million of our brothers and sisters were out-right exterminated by these murderers, along with millions of other innocents.

Anti-Semitism is still pervasive and like a virus it doesn’t go away. You must figure out how to vaccinate against it. Once a year we pause and realize that the Holocaust must not be forgotten. We often see survivors in shul, though not so much anymore … because of Covid. The next generation will not likely have the same experience. There is a danger of simply forgetting the reality which is and was the Holocaust.

Sharing Light for Remembrance. The tragedy of the Holocaust is not forgotten to help prevent similar heinous crimes or a repeat offense. Sharing light through remembrance using the Yellow Candle, is just a moment in time, but a timeless moment that may never be forgotten. The tool of light – through candle sharing – will shine truth on everyone it comes across.
